Just Go ! – short film premiere – Wednesday, September 27, 2017, 7 pm
Latvian Pavel Gumeninikov and his short film Just Go! will represent Latvia in the 20th Annual MANHATTAN SHORT Film Festival. The 10-minute film is one of 10 Finalists screening in over 250 cinemas across six continents between September 28 and October 8, 2017. Being selected for the Final 10 means Just Go! automatically qualifies for Oscar consideration.

Visit Latvia at the 92 Y International Street Fest – Sunday, October 1, 2017
Latvia and its Centenary will be showcased at this year’s 92Y organized International Street Fest. Come and learn more about Latvia and the exciting events planned there in 2018 during the Centenary celebrations.
The StreetFest stretches from 79th Street to 94th Street on Lexington Avenue and attracts thousands of visitors.
The Latvian booth (located between 90th and 91st Streets on Lexington Ave.) will be promoting Latvia as a must see tourist destination for New Yorker’s, as well as answering questions about Latvia.
The sixteen-block StreetFest is promoted in major New York publications, including The New York Times, Time Out New York, and The Village Voice, in local papers, and on several radio stations.

Emmy Award winner Lolita Ritmanis’s music to be featured at Carnegie Hall – October 7, 2017
Orchestra Moderne NYC makes its debut under the direction of founder and conductor Amy Andersson with Journey to America: From Repression to Freedom (Part 1). The concert celebrates the American immigrant experience and features Grammy-nominated composer Peter Boyer’s Ellis Island: The Dream of America, Overture to Light by Emmy Award-winning composer Lolita Ritmanis, and the world premiere of composer Steven Lebetkin’s Violin Concerto, performed by Momo Wong.

Applications close October 8th to renew your Latvian passport or apply for a new passport in NYC – October 13 & 14, 2017
The Embassy of Latvia’s mobile passport station is scheduled to be in New York City on October 13-14, 2017.
Citizens of Latvia can have their passports renewed on that day (or apply for a new passport on that day if they already have a Latvian citizenship number).
To attend this passport renewal in NYC, you must complete an application form to get an appointment time on the day. No walk-ins will be accepted.

Finland celebrates its centenary on December 6, 2017, followed by Lithuania’s 100th anniversary of restored independence on February 16, 2018, and the centenary of Estonia’s statehood on February 24, 2018.
