The six member professional a cappella ensemble Latvian Voices showcases Latvian folksongs through modern, atmospheric and creative arrangements. They will be joined in the concert by our local professional Baltic women’s
vocal ensemble Mägi Ensemble, and the Inglemoor High School Chamber Choir Women.  The Mägi Ensemble will share one of their first performances of Veljo Tormis’ “Raua Needmine / Curse Upon Iron” which is very popular with mixed voice ensembles, and is now also available as an arrangement for
women’s voices. The soloists will be Maria Mannisto and Marjorie Bunday.
The Inglemoor High School ensemble will perform both Latvian folk tunes as well as some traditional American popular songs.
There is a pre-concert lecture “The Power of Song” by Guntis Šmidchens and Laura Jēkabsone at 2pm in the performance space.   On Saturday, October 19th from 10am-2pm, there will be a master class
workshop with the singers from Latvian Voices that is open to all to observe. The Mägi Ensemble and the Inglemoor Chamber Choir will be coached by
Latvian Voices, and there will be small performances and discussions by
Latvian Voices about their history, rehearsal technique and repertoire. This is tentatively scheduled at Woodinville High School in the Performing Arts
Center, but the venue may change.
